Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring to my first session??

Simply yourself! You do not need a referral to take an appointment. However, if the referral is for an adolescent, we ask that the parent( s)/guardian(s) attend the initial assessment session, if possible, so that we can develop an effective treatment plan. The parent( s)/guardian(s) will be invited to attend subsequent sessions based on the child's therapeutic needs.

How long will it take to get an appointment?

During summer season, we are able to place most clients within two weeks. When you call, we will discuss your needs to see if you are in the right place. If there is no availability, you will be placed on a waiting list and we will stay in touch until a spot opens up.

How many sessions will I need to attend?

The number of sessions will depend on the presenting problem and/or your goals. Some people only need 3 or 6 sessions to achieve their objectives. However, most people benefit from 10 to 12 treatment sessions. Therapy usually begins with weekly sessions and then, depending on progress, can expand to bi-weekly or monthly intervals. If you have a history of trauma and complex family dynamics, you may need longer treatment to resolve your current difficulties.

Are the sessions covered by insurance companies?

The vast majority of insurance companies cover the therapy services offered by a licensed psychologist.

It is therefore important to contact your insurance company before embarking on therapy to ensure that you have the proper coverage for services provided by our clinic.

What about the fees?

Please contact us to know more as we offer 50 minute and 25 minute therapy sessions.

Therapy sessions can be paid by credit card, cash or e-transfer.
